Trout Creek is a designated primitive boat camp along the 59-mile permitted float section of the Smith River in central Montana, located approximately at river mile 30. Access is by float craft only — no road access exists between the put-in at Camp Baker and the take-out at Eden Bridge. The camp is managed as part of Smith River State Park by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. No water or sanitation infrastructure is available; floaters must carry all drinking water and use approved hard-sided portable toilets for waste pack-out. A permit is required and obtained through an FWP lottery drawing held each winter for the following float season. The camp sits within a scenic limestone canyon corridor that provides blue-ribbon trout fishing in a remote, uncrowded setting.
