Staigmiller is a designated boat camp within the Smith River State Park corridor in Cascade County, Montana, managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. Situated approximately 44 river miles below Camp Baker on the 59-mile permitted float route, this campsite occupies leased private land and features open grassy tent areas with a gradual terrain slope. The camp is accessible exclusively by non-motorized watercraft—rafts, kayaks, canoes, or drift boats—as part of a permitted multi-day float trip through the Smith River canyon. No potable water or toilet facilities are provided on site; floaters are required to pack out human waste using hard-sided portable containers. A competitive annual lottery permit is required to access the river corridor, with applications typically accepted between January and mid-February. The primary float season runs from mid-April through mid-July.
