Givens Gulch consists of two boat-in campsites — Upper and Lower — located near mile 47 of the Smith River's permitted float corridor within Smith River State Park. Both sites sit on a long river bench accessed by staying river left around an island; the lower site is spacious and open near the water's edge, while the upper offers more tree cover but tighter boat access. A valid Smith River float permit, issued through Montana FWP's annual lottery, is required to camp here. No water is available on-site, and as of spring 2024 pit toilets have been removed — floaters must carry and pack out approved portable toilet systems for the duration of the trip.
