Ridge Top is a permit-required, boat-in campsite complex located at approximately mile 45 of the 59-mile Smith River float corridor in central Montana. The site consists of upper, middle, and lower camping areas set among mature forest canopy, providing elevated views of the river canyon. Access is exclusively by watercraft — there are no roads to this site. A competitive permit lottery administered by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is required year-round; the main float season runs mid-April through mid-July. No toilets or piped water are available; floaters must carry all drinking water and pack out human waste using approved hard-sided portable containers.

Ridgetop is situated at mile 45 of the 58.9-mile float, with three separate camping areas: Upper, Middle, and Lower sites. The Upper site occupies a tight river bend with cliff views across the water. Middle and Lower sites require two of the longest hikes from the water's edge.
