Table Rock is a boat-in campsite complex located approximately 33.5 miles downstream from Camp Baker along the Smith River, managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks as part of Smith River State Park. The site encompasses three separate camping areas — Upper, Middle, and Lower Table Rock — named for the distinctive tilted rock formation visible across the river. At this stretch of the float route, the current is gentle and the canyon relatively open. No drinking water is available; floaters must be entirely self-sufficient. As of 2024, pit toilets have been discontinued and all human waste must be packed out using approved portable toilet systems. Access is strictly by watercraft. A float permit obtained through the Montana FWP annual lottery system is required; the permitted season runs April 1 through August 15.
Open Apr through Aug
27 boat camps with 52 campsites along the river corridor; permitted launch dates April 1 through August 15; FWP requires all parties to be self-sufficient; portable toilets required as of 2024.
