Syringa is a designated boat-in campsite within the Smith River State Park corridor in Meagher County, Montana, managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. Located approximately 15 miles downstream from the Camp Baker put-in, it is one of 27 boat camps along the 59-mile float route to Eden Bridge. Access is by watercraft only — no road access exists. Float permits are required from April through mid-August and are awarded through a competitive annual lottery; after August 15, floaters may self-register at Camp Baker. No drinking water or toilet facilities are provided; all human waste must be packed out using an FWP-approved portable toilet system. During peak season (May 15–July 15), overnight camping is limited to four nights on the river per trip.

Typical float season runs mid-April through mid-July, with occasional floating opportunities in September and October.
Scotty Allen and Syringa make an excellent choice for a first day, even though that means a lot of time on the water — Syringa is at approximately 15.2 miles from the put-in.
