In-Lieu is a primitive, designated boat camp located approximately 5.6 miles downstream from the Camp Baker launch site on Montana's Smith River float corridor. Access is limited to non-motorized watercraft as part of the permit-required Smith River float, a 59-mile journey through a remote limestone canyon. No restrooms or potable water are available at this site; floaters must carry in all supplies and pack out all waste using an approved hard-sided portable toilet (bag systems are not permitted). The camp is one of 27 designated boat camps within Smith River State Park, managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. A state-issued float permit obtained through an annual lottery is required for access.
