Waterton River is a backcountry wilderness campsite in Glacier National Park, situated along the Waterton River near the Canadian border. The site is hike-in only and features five designated tent sites, each accommodating up to four campers. A vault toilet serves the area, but no potable water is available on-site — visitors must treat water from nearby streams. To reduce bear encounters, food preparation areas are located approximately 200 feet from tent sites. A backcountry permit is required between May 1 and October 31; the campsite typically becomes accessible in mid-June. The surrounding terrain connects to trails leading toward the Goat Haunt trailhead and Rainbow Falls.
