Located at the east entrance to Glacier National Park along Going-to-the-Sun Road, St. Mary Campground is the largest campground on the park's east side, with 148 sites spread across three loops (A, B, and C). The campground sits approximately half a mile from the St. Mary entrance station, providing a convenient base for exploring the Going-to-the-Sun Road corridor and St. Mary Lake. Loop C has an amphitheater where rangers offer evening interpretive programs. Generator use is permitted in Loops B and C during designated hours only; Loop A is generator-free at all times. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 35 feet, with a small number of sites accepting vehicles up to 40 feet. Flush restrooms, potable water, and a dump station are available on-site, along with limited shower facilities for registered campers. During the peak summer season, all sites require advance reservation through Recreation.gov. In mid-August through early September the campground shifts to same-day booking only. Primitive camping with reduced services is available in spring (April through mid-May) and fall (mid-September through October) at lower rates. Winter camping is permitted from November through March at no charge with a valid park entrance pass. Restaurants, groceries, gas, and visitor services are nearby in the town of St. Mary.
