A 4,560-acre state marine park located five miles southwest of the Port of Valdez in Prince William Sound. The park features Shoup Glacier and a black-legged kittiwake rookery in the lagoon. Access is primarily by boat, though an 11-mile trail from Valdez is also available. The park offers three public-use cabins (McAllister, Moraine, and Kittiwake) that each sleep up to 8 people and require advance reservations. Multiple campsites are located around the bay perimeter and at the eastern lagoon end. Amenities include toilets, trails, and drinking water near the bay head. No camping limit is imposed. Visitors should watch for icebergs as navigation hazards and protect nesting areas. The Shoup Glacier has receded about 1.5 miles, creating new terrain and a brackish lagoon connected by a tidal river, requiring careful timing with tides for access.
