A scenic high-alpine campground at Thompson Pass with spectacular 360-degree mountain views, located 24 miles north of Valdez at Mile 25 of the Richardson Highway. The facility features 21 total sites including 17 sites on a paved loop road, 2 sites on a gravel lot, and 2 walk-in sites. Each site includes a fire pit and picnic table, though some sites share tables. Two vault toilets and a small handpump provide water. No electrical hookups, water hookups, or wifi service available, and phone service is typically unavailable. RVs under 30 feet are permitted but no pull-throughs or hookups are provided. The high alpine lake offers excellent grayling fishing, hiking trails, berry picking, and kayaking opportunities. Managed by Valdez Adventure Alliance. Check-in is noon, checkout at 11am. Best to visit during summer months June through August.
