Hellgate Campground sits along the western shore of Canyon Ferry Reservoir approximately 30 miles east of Helena, managed by the Bureau of Reclamation. The campground offers 69 individual sites on gravel pads, plus three group shelter areas accommodating larger gatherings. Two sites have electric hookups, and the campground can handle RVs up to 120 feet in length. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and two boat ramps with courtesy docks providing direct access to one of Montana's largest reservoirs. Fishing, boating, and swimming are popular activities on the lake. Reservations are accepted through Recreation.gov; the standard nightly fee applies during the peak season from May through mid-September.
