Coal Creek is a remote backcountry wilderness campsite within Glacier National Park's Nyack/Coal Creek Camping Zone, accessible only by a challenging multi-day trail that involves numerous stream fords and brushy terrain. The site opens July 15 due to seasonal snow and high water conditions. Two designated campsites are available; stock animals are permitted. A wilderness use permit is required year-round, obtainable through Recreation.gov or in person at the Apgar Wilderness Permit Center. No wood fires are allowed — camp stoves only. An IGBC-approved bear-resistant food canister must be carried. Campers are limited to a two-night stay at any single campsite within the zone.
