Avalanche Campground sits along the Going-to-the-Sun Road in the western section of Glacier National Park, surrounded by old-growth cedar and hemlock forest. The campground offers 87 shaded sites in two loops, with flush toilets and central water. All sites require a reservation through Recreation.gov. Only 50 sites can accommodate vehicles up to 26 feet; larger rigs are not permitted on the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Bear activity is common — food storage in provided lockers is enforced. An on-site amphitheater hosts ranger-led programs during the season. The Trail of the Cedars and Avalanche Lake trailhead are within easy walking distance.
