Visitors can fish for trout, paddle the lake by kayak or canoe, and observe refuge wildlife including moose and loons. Access requires a high-clearance vehicle on the gravel Swanson River Road. Located approximately 2 hours south of Anchorage or 20 minutes from Sterling. Open May through September depending on road conditions. First-come, first-served only with no reservations accepted.
