Sunlight Glacier Beach is a remote backcountry camping site in Aialik Bay within Kenai Fjords National Park, accessible only by kayak or water taxi. The site features a long, flat beach that requires a lengthy carry during low tide to reach suitable camping areas. A food storage locker is conveniently located near the middle of the beach for bear-safe food storage. Campers may need to cross a braided glacial outwash stream, which can vary in depth and flow depending on tides and recent weather. The expansive beach provides ample space for setting up camp with views of surrounding glaciers and mountains. This site offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and exploring the dramatic coastal environment. Best suited for experienced kayakers prepared for backcountry conditions and comfortable with tidal dynamics and stream crossings.
