Paddle-in backcountry camping area near Holgate Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. Accessible only by kayak or boat. No permits or fees required for backcountry camping. Primary camping area sits at southeast end of the arm south of the Holgate Public Use Cabin with a food storage locker positioned east of the cabin. Freshwater creek flows into the lagoon behind the cabin. Alternative secluded beach exists west of the cabin with several small streams. Holgate Arm can experience rough conditions from ocean swells strong winds from the glacier waves from calving ice and tour boat wakes. Avoid small beaches near the glacier as they are prone to complete washing by glacier-generated waves. Bear-resistant food containers required as tall trees are limited. Proper food storage is mandatory throughout the park. Operating season depends on coastal conditions and ice-free waters typically during summer months.
