Nestled at roughly 6,600 feet elevation in the upper reaches of Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, this primitive campground sits among stands of trees near Upper Red Rock Lake in the remote Centennial Valley of southwestern Montana. Twelve basic campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with a 16-consecutive-day stay limit, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and potable spring water are provided on-site, though there are no hookups, electricity, or cell service. The narrow access road and tight turnaround make this campground unsuitable for large RVs and trailers; tent campers and small vehicles are best suited for this location. Bear-proof food storage boxes are on site and required when food is unattended. Trumpeter swans and other refuge wildlife are frequently visible from camp. A fee of $7 per vehicle per night is collected at a self-pay station; discounts apply for federal pass holders.
