Road Agent is one of two campgrounds within Bannack State Park, a National Historic Landmark located in the high desert of southwestern Montana near the town of Dillon. The campground provides eight primitive sites arranged among mature cottonwood trees, available on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring; central drinking water and vault toilets are shared across the campground. No electrical hookups are available. Guests have direct walking access to the Bannack ghost town, where more than 50 original structures dating from Montana's 1862 gold rush era have been preserved, including the hotel, masonic lodge, gallows, and jail. The park hosts Bannack Days each July, featuring period reenactments and living history demonstrations. Cell coverage is limited at this remote location. The nearest fuel, groceries, and lodging are in Dillon, approximately 25 miles to the east.
