Columbus Lake is a primitive camping area located in the South Unit of Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge offers approximately 19 primitive campsites with no facilities throughout the refuge area. Camping is restricted to those engaged in wildlife-dependent activities such as hunting and fishing. Stays are limited to less than 14 days and sites must be occupied daily. Camping at Columbus Lake is limited to March through December. An Annual Public Use Permit is required for hunting, fishing, launching boats, and using campgrounds, costing $20 for visitors 16 and older. Columbus Lake is among the productive fishing lakes in the refuge.
