Heney Glacier is a remote backcountry paddling site in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, located on the Copper River route near the dramatic face of Heney Glacier. This primitive campsite is accessible only by paddle on the Copper River and is suitable for experienced multi-day river expeditions. Paddlers will encounter the spectacular Heney Glacier face during their float trip. The park requires completion of a backcountry itinerary form before departure and strongly recommends satellite communication devices. River conditions change rapidly; contact the park's backcountry office for current hazard information and access conditions. Proper bear safety practices and extreme weather preparation are essential.
