A free campground operated by Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge, located at Milepost 1249.3 on the Alaska Highway between Tok and the Canadian border in eastern Alaska. The facility offers 15 campsites in spruce forest along a half-mile loop road on the edge of Deadman Lake, with 4 sites suitable for large motorhomes up to 40 feet in length. Amenities include firepits, vault toilets, picnic tables, a boat ramp, and information board. No drinking water is available. The campground features a wheelchair-accessible quarter-mile Taiga Trail boardwalk leading to an observation deck and fishing pier over the lake. Activities include wildlife viewing, bird watching, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Nightly ranger talks are offered at the campground during the operating season. The facility operates from April through October on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit in any 28-day period. Both black and grizzly bears occur in the refuge, so visitors must keep clean campsites and properly store all food.
