Upper Slough Creek Stock is a designated backcountry campsite in Yellowstone National Park reserved exclusively for parties traveling with stock animals. Located within the popular Slough Creek corridor in the Lamar Valley area, the campsite is accessible via the Slough Creek Trail from the trailhead at the end of Slough Creek Road, approximately 6 miles east of Tower Junction on the Northeast Entrance Road. Stock use is permitted beginning July 1 each year; visitors must carry proof of a negative Coggins test (performed within 12 months) for all equine animals. A backcountry permit is required for all overnight stays and must be obtained through Recreation.gov in advance. Slough Creek is a high-demand area — reservations are strongly recommended, especially during peak summer months.
