Upper Dailey Creek is a Yellowstone National Park backcountry campsite (site WF2) reached via the Dailey Creek Trail — a strenuous roughly 10-mile round-trip route starting from the Dailey Creek Trailhead (WK1). The site sits among trees near the Sky Rim ridgeline at approximately 7,520 feet in elevation. A small creek near camp is the last reliable water source on this side of the trail. A backcountry permit is required year-round for all overnight stays; advance reservations are available through Recreation.gov (approximately 75% of sites), with the remaining 25% reserved for walk-up permits issued at the Central Backcountry Office. The permit fee is $5 per person per night plus a $10 non-refundable reservation fee. Access is walk-in only with no vehicle access to the site. Bears are common in this area; food must be stored in bear canisters or hang systems at least 100 feet from the tent area. Biting insects are prevalent through the summer months. The prime season runs late June through September; snow and high water can limit access during early summer.
