Fan Creek Stock is a designated backcountry stock campsite within Yellowstone National Park's Gallatin Range in Montana, situated in the Fan Creek drainage along the US-191 corridor. The site is reached by trail from the Fawn Pass Trailhead and is specifically designated to accommodate horses, mules, and llamas. Stock use is not permitted before July 1 each year, as several sites have later openings tied to grazing readiness. A Backcountry Use Permit is required year-round for all overnight stays and must be obtained through Recreation.gov. All equine animals entering the park must be accompanied by proof of a negative Coggins test completed within the prior 12 months. Campsites in this area have limits on both group size and total annual stock use, so availability may be restricted even when dates appear open.
Per person, per night (backcountry recreation fee)
Reservation fee (one-time, per reservation)
Open Jul through Oct
