Gneiss Creek (WK7) is a designated backcountry campsite in Yellowstone National Park, situated along the Gneiss Creek Trail on the park's western edge near Highway 191. The campsite is reached approximately 4.5 miles from the northern trailhead and lies within the Gneiss Creek Bear Management Area. A backcountry use permit is required for all overnight stays and can be reserved in advance through Recreation.gov; walk-up permits are also available daily at the backcountry office. The northern section of trail is closed for bear management from March 10 through June 30, and the prime backpacking season runs from late June through September. Campers should carry bear spray and approved food storage containers, and camp at least 100 yards from food and cooking areas.
