Fan Creek Northeast Stock is a designated backcountry stock campsite situated in the northwestern section of Yellowstone National Park within the Fan Creek drainage area near the Gallatin Range. This remote site is intended for overnight parties traveling with horses or pack animals through Yellowstone's backcountry. A valid backcountry permit is required year-round for all overnight stays, and stock use at this site may not begin until July 1 of any given year. Visitors camping with equine animals must carry proof of a negative Coggins test performed within the previous 12 months. Stock use limits apply annually, meaning a site may be fully booked even if calendar availability appears open. Maximum consecutive stay is three nights per campsite. Campers should contact the Yellowstone Central Backcountry Office for current conditions, stock use limits, and detailed trip planning assistance before visiting.
