Located near Mile 70.8 of the Parks Highway at the junction of Willow Creek and the Susitna River, this state recreation area offers 140 dry camping spots with no hookups on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground provides paved parking spots and picnic tables in a well-maintained facility with basic amenities including pit toilets. Visitors can stay between four and 15 days depending on the time of year. River rafting along Willow Creek is popular, with mild Class I-II rapids suitable for day trips or overnight camping trips. The campground offers excellent fishing opportunities at Willow Creek and on the Susitna River, which draws many visitors during peak weekends. From Anchorage, the drive north on the Parks Highway takes approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
