A dispersed recreation area located on the east bank of Moose Creek off Buffalo Mine Road near Palmer in the Matanuska-Susitna region. The Premier Mine (Alaska Heritage Resource Survey site ANC-475) was historically operated by Paul Omlin from 1960 until the 1970s as part of the Wishbone Hill coal mining area. The mine facilities were subsequently razed and machinery removed, but the access roads historically provided opportunities for hunters, wood cutters, and campers with recreational vehicles. This is part of the broader Wishbone Hill coal mining region near Moose Creek, distinct from the Independence Mine gold mining area at Hatcher Pass. According to Alaska DNR documentation, the site is no longer accessible from Buffalo Mine Road due to a bridge washout.
