A 229-acre state recreation site located at Mile 101 of the Glenn Highway near the community of Chickaloon. The facility offers campsites with water pump, toilets, fire pits, and picnic tables on a gravel loop. The Edge Nature Trail provides a 20-minute forest walk to glacier viewing platforms, offering safe public viewing opportunities of Matanuska Glacier. While there is no direct glacier access from the recreation site, visitors can enjoy camping, hiking, and spectacular glacier views. The site and cabins are managed by Long Rifle Lodge. Open seasonally until closed by winter snow and ice conditions.
