Snake River (site 8C1, also known as Snake Hot Springs) is a designated backcountry campsite located along the Snake River in the southern portion of Yellowstone National Park, just downstream from the confluence with Red Creek near the junction between the Heart Lake and South Boundary Trails. This walk-in backpacker-only site (no stock allowed) offers views up and down the Snake River Valley and is situated immediately adjacent to Snake Hot Springs thermal features, where thermal water flows into the Snake River creating a legal and safe soaking area. The campsite provides limited privacy and tent placement options but features spectacular river valley views. Access requires hiking the South Boundary Trail and fording the Snake River near the trailhead. A backcountry permit is required for overnight use, reservable through Recreation.gov.
