Backcountry campsite 8R2 (Bluff Top) is a walk-in site located on the western shore of Shoshone Lake in Yellowstone National Park, the largest backcountry lake in the Lower 48 states without road access. The site is accessible by both backpackers and non-motorized boats, approximately 8 miles from Delacy Creek trailhead. Due to seasonal conditions, this site may not be reserved for camping before July 1, though early-season permits may be available upon arrival if conditions permit. The campsite features primitive pit toilets and is subject to party size limits of eight people maximum. Wood fires are prohibited at all Shoshone Lake campsites. A backcountry permit obtained through Recreation.gov is required year-round, with a maximum stay of 3 consecutive nights.
