Island Area is a free, year-round campground on the shoreline of Lake Elwell (Tiber Reservoir) in Liberty County, approximately 25 miles north of Chester, Montana. Managed by the US Bureau of Reclamation, the campground accommodates both tent and RV campers and provides toilet facilities, potable water, and an RV dump station. The reservoir supports fishing for northern pike, walleye, and rainbow trout, and the surrounding area offers boating, birdwatching, swimming, and wildlife viewing. A 14-day maximum stay limit applies across the Lake Elwell public recreation area. The adjacent Tiber Marina offers fuel, supplies, and additional services.
