Expansive 3,502-acre state park atop Lookout Mountain, approximately eight miles northeast of Fort Payne. The park features more than 35 miles of hiking trails and 11-plus miles of mountain biking trails through scenic terrain. Notable attractions include DeSoto Falls, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and a CCC museum. The historic lodge operates 24/7 year-round, offering various lodging options including chalets, cabins, motel rooms, and 94 improved campsites with full hookups. Additional primitive and backpacking campsites are available. The park provides access to Little River Canyon Nature Preserve. Recreation includes hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, and exploring historic Civilian Conservation Corps structures. Trails and picnic areas open dawn to dusk.
