A floating platform campsite on the east side of Canal Island in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, accessible only by canoe or kayak. The site is part of the Bartram Canoe Trail system and requires reservations through the Alabama State Lands Canoe Trails. The overnight trail from French's Lake Coastal Access to Canal Island is approximately 11 miles, winding through Majors Creek, Globe Creek, Big Beaver Creek, and Little Lake. Groups are limited to eight people and one night per platform. Open fires are prohibited; campers must use camp stoves. Each party must carry a compass, map, flashlight, and portable toilet with disposable bags. Pets are not allowed on the floating platforms. The remote location offers a unique paddle-in wilderness camping experience in Alabama's coastal wetlands.
