A scenic campground nestled in old-growth temperate rainforest along Last Chance Creek in the Ward Lake Recreation Area. Located just 9 miles from downtown Ketchikan, this accessible campground offers 18 sites surrounded by towering western hemlock and Sitka spruce trees. Campers enjoy excellent fishing access to both Last Chance Creek and Ward Creek, along with proximity to seven hiking trails including the popular Ward Lake Nature Trail. Black bears frequent the area during August and September salmon runs. The campground features hand-pumped drinking water and vault toilets, making it a perfect base for exploring Southeast Alaska's temperate rainforest ecosystem.
