Located in Chugach National Forest near Hope, about 88 miles south of Anchorage. The campground sits in a handsome birch forest overlooking Turnagain Arm, offering spectacular views. Access from Anchorage requires traveling south on the Seward Highway and turning onto the Hope Highway at Milepost 56.7, with the campground at Milepost 17.8. The facility features 34 campsites comprising tent-only and RV non-electric options, with accessible vault toilets, drinking water from a hand well, fire rings, picnic tables, and a dumpster. Firewood is sold on-site. Popular activities include fishing, hiking the 5.1-mile Gull Rock Trail, whitewater rafting, gold panning, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Visitors can watch windsurfers in the bay and spot Beluga whales from the scenic overlook. A new public-use cabin adjacent to the campground opened recently as part of the Alaska Cabins Project.
