A military recreation facility at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson located on Otter Lake, approximately 5 miles from the main Fort Richardson area. The facility is designated as a National Wildlife and Loon Sanctuary offering a rustic camping experience in a natural setting. Amenities include 17 no-hookup RV spaces and 7 tent sites, clean restrooms with showers, fire pits, BBQ grills, picnic tables, a volleyball court, playground, and horseshoe pit. The north end of the lake features cabins, a boat house, and boat rentals. The last mile of road to the campground is unpaved dirt surface. Activities include fishing, wildlife viewing, and enjoying mountain views. Reservations are accepted. Access requires valid military ID through either the Boniface Gate or Richardson Gate. The best time to visit is during summer months from June to August.
