South Bootlegger is a primitive campground on the south shore of Lake Elwell (Tiber Reservoir) in north-central Montana, managed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Set at roughly 3,000 feet elevation, the campground provides vault toilets, central drinking water, fire rings, and a boat launch for anglers and boaters using the reservoir. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day maximum stay. Access is via the Bootlegger Trail and Secondary Highway FAS 366, with gravel and dirt road surfaces — travelers with large RVs should scout ahead. Camping is free of charge.
