North Bootlegger is a primitive, free campground on the shores of Lake Elwell (Tiber Reservoir) in north-central Montana, managed by the US Bureau of Reclamation. Located about 8 miles south of Highway 2 near Galata, the campground is reached via approximately 9 miles of gravel road. Sites include picnic tables and fire rings, and vault toilets are available on-site, but there is no potable water — visitors must bring their own supply. A hand boat launch provides direct lake access for fishing and boating; Lake Elwell supports northern pike, walleye, and rainbow trout. No electrical hookups are available. Cell service is generally not available. Maximum stay is 14 days. Elevation is approximately 2,999 feet.
