Cottonwood is one of five camping loops within Cooney State Park, a 309-acre reservoir park in Carbon County roughly 40 miles south of Billings. The loop offers 10 drive-in campsites accommodating both tents and RVs up to approximately 45 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground sits along Cooney Reservoir, which is known for walleye and rainbow trout fishing as well as boating and water skiing. Flush toilets and drinking water are available seasonally (mid-May through late September); the campground remains accessible the rest of the year with limited services. Metered showers are available to registered campers at the Marshall Cove area of the park. Reservations can be made through ReserveAmerica up to six months in advance.
