Conservation area featuring primitive walk-in tent camping on 772 acres of forest northwest of Springfield. Two designated tent-only campsites require walking from parking area and obtaining special-use permit from MDC Southwest Regional Office prior to arrival. Camping limited to 14 consecutive days per 30-day period, maximum 30 days total per calendar year. Quiet hours enforced 10pm-6am. Area offers 7.3 miles of hiking trails through diverse habitat including dolomite glades with wildflowers, small ponds, and 20-acre savanna restoration area. Popular for hunting deer, turkey, squirrel, and small game. Limited fishing opportunities and excellent wildlife viewing. Open 4am-10pm daily for general public, with 24-hour access for permitted camping. Target shooting and trail cameras prohibited.
