Wickersham Bar is a primitive gravel bar campsite along the Gulkana Wild and Scenic River, accessible only by float boat or paddle craft. This wilderness camping location offers space for approximately 4 tents on a gravel bar along the rivers edge. The Gulkana River provides outstanding sportfishing opportunities for king salmon, red salmon, rainbow trout, and arctic grayling, making it one of the most popular float-fishing rivers in Alaska. As part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, the area is managed by the BLM to preserve its wild character. No facilities are provided - visitors should pack out all trash and practice Leave No Trace principles. Float season runs from early June through mid-September.
