A primitive river campsite along the Gulkana National Wild and Scenic River, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Nicklie Bar provides a gravel bar camping experience along the 181-mile wild river corridor. The site can accommodate approximately 4 tents and is accessible only by watercraft. This undeveloped location has no facilities - visitors must be fully self-sufficient and pack out all waste. The BLM allows camping on gravel bars within the river corridor up to the high water mark. Practice Leave No Trace principles to help preserve the wild character. The floating season runs from early June through mid-September.
The BLM section of the river includes the river and land up to the high water mark so it is possible to camp on gravel bars along the way. No fee for river use.
