A primitive river campsite along the Gulkana National Wild and Scenic River, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Monohan Flats offers paddlers a wilderness camping spot on a flat area along the 181-mile wild river corridor. The site can accommodate approximately 3 tents and is accessible only by watercraft. This undeveloped location has no facilities - visitors must be fully self-sufficient. Help preserve the wild character of this designated Wild and Scenic River by practicing Leave No Trace camping techniques and storing food properly due to bear activity. The river season runs from early June through mid-September.
All 181 miles of the Gulkana River are classified as wild. BLM asks that all users do their part to help maintain the wild character of the Gulkana through low impact camping techniques.
