A primitive river campsite along the Gulkana National Wild and Scenic River, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This undeveloped site offers a true backcountry experience for paddlers and float trip enthusiasts exploring the 181-mile wild river corridor. The site accommodates approximately 2 tents and is accessible only by watercraft. No developed facilities are available - visitors must be self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles. The Gulkana River running season typically extends from early June through mid-September, weather permitting.
All 181 miles of the Gulkana River are classified as wild. BLM asks that all users do their part to help maintain the wild character of the Gulkana through low impact camping techniques.
The Gulkana River running season generally begins in early to mid-June, depending on ice breakup and precipitation. By mid-September, shorter days and colder temperatures bring the river-running season to a quick end.
