Hardscrabble Bottom is a remote backcountry camping area in the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park, Utah, accessible by high-clearance 4WD vehicle along the White Rim Road. The site includes two designated campsites, Hardscrabble A and Hardscrabble B, located on a canyon floor. An overnight backcountry permit is required and must be obtained in advance through Recreation.gov ($36 permit fee plus $5 per person per night). No water is available on-site; campers must bring their own supply. A vault toilet is provided at Hardscrabble A; the Hardscrabble B vault toilet has been closed due to unstable soil conditions. Pets are not permitted in the backcountry. Maximum stay is three consecutive nights before relocating.
