Hares Canyon Horse Camp is an equestrian-focused campground within L.L. Stub Stewart State Park, located approximately 33 miles west of Portland in the Oregon Coast Range foothills. The camp features 13 full-hookup sites (water, electric 30/50 amp, sewer) with adjacent horse corrals - 11 standard sites with four-stall corrals and 2 double-size sites with six-stall corrals. Sites accommodate trailers up to 90 feet. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, picnic tables, fire pits, and manure disposal bins. Guests must have pack animals to stay at the horse camp. From the campground, riders can access over 25 miles of multi-use trails including connections to the paved 21-mile Banks-Vernonia State Trail. The camp is named for Joseph Coulson Hare, a long-time Washington County resident who served as mayor of Hillsboro. Reservations accepted through Oregon State Parks.
