One of six designated primitive camping areas at Packsaddle Wildlife Management Area, a 19,659-acre area in Ellis County featuring rolling sand hills and wooded bottoms bounded by the South Canadian River. The WMA offers hunting opportunities for bobwhite quail, white-tailed deer, Rio Grande turkeys, cottontail rabbits, furbearers including coyote, bobcat, and raccoon, along with dove and limited waterfowl. Camping is permitted only in designated areas during open hunting seasons. The property is located 17 miles south of Arnett on Highway 283. A 100-yard rifle range with five covered shooting benches, a trap range, and ADA access is available 3.4 miles east of Arnett. All shotgun hunting requires federally approved nontoxic shot, and non-resident quail hunting is prohibited February 1-15.
