Schofield Flats is a free primitive camping area in the Lake George Wild Forest, located on River Road approximately 2.2 miles north of the Route 44/River Road intersection in Lake Luzerne. Part of the Hudson River Special Management Area, the site features designated accessible tent sites (Sites #18 and #19) with gravel tent pads, gravel routes, fire rings, vault toilets, and picnic tables. Hand launch access to the Hudson River is available for canoes and kayaks. Recent 2025 upgrades included rehabilitation of accessible facilities and installation of informational kiosks.
